The final major race of the Carpet season was the 2006 ROAR Carpet Nationals held in Stockton, California. Team Corally driver Chris Tosolini was the defending Modified Touring Car Champion for the race so the expectations were high. Paul Lemieux was on a tear in the Modified class as he had TQ’ed and Won the three previous major races.

During qualifying Paul and Chris battled each round for the TQ as this was using the Qual Points system setup for ROAR racing. Paul took the overall TQ for the A final with Chris locking into second spot on the grid for the Triple A-main format to determine the overall winner.

The first round of the A mains had Paul getting away clean and taking the win and setting up a battle for the second A-main. The second A-main showed Paul and Chris battling throughout the entire race. Paul passed Chris with 3 turns to go. Chris went to the inside on the last turn and they bumped and drag raced across the line. Chris wins A2 by 0.027 seconds and setting up a huge A3 final. The final A-main once again was a Chris and Paulie battle as they fought hard during the race. At the end Chris was able to win A3 by less than half a second over Paul to WIN the 2006 ROAR Carpet Nationals! Chris was the defending champ for this so that makes BACK 2 BACK wins for Chris and the Corally RDX.

In the Stock Touring class there was a lot of momentum as Corally had won the 4 major races so far in the season. The final race would make it a sweep if we were able to come away with a victory. Early on several team drivers showed they were on pace for some solid qualifying. Jarrod Langlois settled into the number two spot on the grid for the Triple A-mains. Jarrod has only been a team driver since the Snowbirds last month.

The first A-main showed Drew Ellis getting away from the group and breaking free to win it. The A2 and A3 starts were much better for the team as Jarrod was able to snag the lead in both mains to lock up his first National Championship! The win also sealed the sweep of the Stock A-main Wins for the 5 major races of the Carpet season for the Corally RDX. A huge congratulations to Chris and Jarrod on their respective wins and the entire Corally team that made this Carpet season the best ever.
